Austen Carroll

Austen Carroll

Austen Carroll

Texas-native, Austen Carroll, grew up playing guitar in his room when he was grounded. And though he was constantly surrounded by the songs of Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff Walker and Robert Earl Keen; it would not be for another 10 years that he realizes the impact that style of music had on him. “I never tried to learn more chords”, he says about his early days playing guitar, “I was content with knowing 3 or 4 and finding a way to create with what I had”. Now, those “Texas-Country” songwriters are some of his biggest influences, but not exclusively; “I listen to a lot of hip-hop. The structure, cadence, delivery – all those thing are very important to me in writing.”

These days, not much has changed with the songwriting, except for when he gets his band together, Grayson County Burn Ban, who were recently nominated by Westword Magazine for “Best Country Band”.

TMULE

TMULE

TMULE

Known for his gritty vocals and rowdy rhythm guitar for the grungy Colorado folk rockers The Longest Day of the Year, TMULE brings together lyrical roots and folk stories like early Neil Young with the grunge of Pearl Jam and sonic celebrations of Wilco.

He has been playing shows, dreaming and drifting from Kalamazoo to Ann Arbor to Boston to Boulder, and finally finding a home in Fort Collins, Music City. His days are full of helping library patrons explore their interest and creating connections between people and the resources they need. These daily explorations of undirected intellectual journeys bring newly discovered treasures to share through songs and poem.
Though his songs have been used as the backbone of the band The Longest Day of the Year, his songwriting bleeds far beyond the full-frontal folk-rock of TLDOTY and also reaches into the smaller, tender, and quiet spaces of his heart and mind.

*Has shared the stage with Sturgill Simpson, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Blind Boys of Alabama, Billy Strings, Joshua Davis
Cody Schell

Cody Schell

Cody Schell

Having started early learning classical compositions on the upright bass in middle school, Cody Schell has been playing strings for most of his life. During his earlier years, he picked up the mandolin, banjo, jazz bass and guitar with the support and influence of his family, but acoustic guitar won him over as the instrument of choice. Through learning other’s songs and being self-taught, he’s developed a unique voice and a broad vocal range that has been influenced by nearly all genres and generations of music – but especially classic rock, soul, and folk.
More recently, he began focusing on songwriting and has produced several catchy tunes with clever lyrics about the beauty and struggles of life. Cody recently graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in biology, but decided he had more to contribute in the world of music. Listeners can expect to hear lyrics inspired by his passion for the outdoors and his belief that being open-minded is the best way to approach life.

Ryan Dart

Ryan Dart

Ryan Dart

Farmer.  Father.  Musician.  Painter.

Ryan Dart’s music encompasses the worlds that he lives in.  You can’t sing about needing rain, unless you really know what it means to need rain.  The new album, Drifters Heart, showcases his earnest and heartfelt songwriting, stripped down to its core and presented honestly.  Recorded in Austin, TX and Boulder, CO, the album is a departure from some of Ryan’s earlier, more rock leaning offerings.  Yet, it still retains all of the qualities common throughout Ryan’s music – genuine lyrics, vivid imagery, and an authentic take on American music.

The Waido Experience

The Waido Experience

The Waido Experience

Michael Waido has been playing music for as long as he could hold an instrument. As a solo musician he has played stages and festivals throughout Colorado and the Midwest. In the summer of 2004 he was the headliner at a local music festival in Greeley, CO and wanted to have a bigger sound – “just a one time thing”. He called up his friends Pete Carlson and Dave Wisbon, and after playing the first song together in Pete’s basement – they all knew it wasn’t going to be just a one time thing. The trio has been having a blast playing tunes for going on 13 years now, and has a solid following throughout the Front Range. One thing you can be assured of when you go out to hear The Waido Experience – you’re going to have a good time.

#RollWithIt

#RollWithIt

#RollWithIt

we don’t have a studio.

….a bar or a restaurant with a corner stage.

We have a rickshaw.

Not just a rickshaw – we have special rickshaw built to move music.

Transport music..

Live.

To people that need it

like they need a steady stream of

blood and oxygen.

They need it to cope,

  for relief,

  for hope,

  for commiseration.

  To live.

We are grinding through an epic of human pain, fear, and

events that shake and disrupt

with little to grab and hold – little to steady

the quaking soul.

Music can steady.

Music – live music.

It can move us all toward a steady center

where we are shielded / where a respite of

peace and transformation wraps softly

sweetly and gently soothing the frayed edges

of our delicate human souls –

– steadies us,

replenishing us with hope and courage.

The strength to be what we have to be for each other.

A humanity of souls that are afraid – yes,

but not afraid to reach out and around each other.

United in our frailty, but emboldened by our shared

fear.

Determined to survive.

With a little melody

coming from deep in that place in humans we share

it has to reach our chords and lips – seeping out.

We humans can’t help it – it’s our shared medium of

pain and hope –

leaking as a thread of joy from our troubled hearts

– a way to unite as a species and sing the same pleas

– together,

Wishes and dreams that pull us forward

from the agonies and dark swirling

that pull us down.
